When is SBI Account considered to be Inorperative or Dormant ?
If you have a bank account in SBI and you have not been making any transactions through it for over 12 months, it will be considered as an inactive account. However, if you have not been making any transactions through your account from over 24 months, it will be considered as a dormant account. As per the guidelines of RBI, an account is said to be dormant if the account holder is unable to perform any transactions like Withdrawal of Cash, Payment through Cheque, Transfer of Funds via Net Banking, Phone Banking or ATMs.
Complete Procedure to Reactivate Dormant Account in SBI
In order to re-activate your dormant SBI account, you need to submit the following to your Home Branch :
1) An Application to the Branch Manager
2) Proof of Identity &
3) Proof of Residence.
Note : Please carry the photostat copies of Proof of Identity and Address Proof with self attestation i.e., these copies must have your signature.
